While I couldn’t show everything that happened at Elizabeth’s NOLA bachelorette party in one post, I wanted to share some highlights from the trip. We stayed in the French Quarter a majority of the time, but ventured off into the Garden District for some shopping on Saturday. It was very refreshing to get out of the FQ for a little while because one can only take so much time on Bourbon Street without going crazy. And believe me, we saw our share of the crazies. All in all, we ate, drank and danced like there was no tomorrow and most importantly celebrated our dear friend, Elizabeth..aka the only person I’d wear a Justin Bieber wig for! We love you Lizzy!

What To Pack: Bachelorette Party in NOLA

I’m headed to one of my favorite cities for one of my favorite girls tomorrow and I literally don’t know how I’m going to sleep tonight!!! On top of New Orleans being incredibly fun and having the best food, I get to participate in my best friend’s last hooray before her wedding…to one of my other best friends!!!

Last time I was in NOLA for a bachelorette party, I really felt like we were supermodels as the men were hitting on us like crazy. To be honest, they were hitting on anything that was still breathing. BUT this time, we are wearing crazy wigs and being the genius that I am, I bought a Justin Bieber wig. Y’all… it is HIDEOUS!!! I mean, should I even wear a dress with it? And also, I’m not kidding when I talk about bringing stretchy clothes. I could easily gain five pounds spending a weekend in New Orleans! But the food is too good to pass up! I can’t wait to share pics!!!

1// Miu Miu: What I love about Miu Miu suits {and especially this one in particular} is that they are too pretty to just wear to the beach or pool! These bow embellished one pieces would look so cute with a maxi or pair of printed pants for a night out on vacation! Once you realize it is a two in one, the price is totally justifiable..right?

2// Marysia Swim is a newer line, but has quickly become one of my favorites! I’m always drawn to swimsuits that are a little different and the zig zag edging on this suit makes it so unique! Not a string bikini fan? Marysia Swim has one pieces, cut outs and high waisted styles too. And as if I wasn’t already drooling over the lines of the swimsuit, Marysia brought out this number! Ugh Dying! I also read that Marysia is a fellow FIDM graduate! Now I feel like I have to buy one to support my fellow alum.

3// Mara Hoffman: I mean, do I even have to explain the greatness of a Mara Hoffman swim suit? The styles are always so cool and the vibrant prints make them irresistible! I have been this close to buying one about a million times and then always regret it. I think this one would be perfect for my trip to Mexico later this year!

4//Zimmermann: I have spoken about my love for this Aussie line before so I may sound very repetitive, but I love this line! The floral prints and soft colors are so feminine, but still so cool. I remember that Zimmermann was one of the first to bring back the underwire suit. I never thought I would want to wear one of those after the 8th grade, but I absolutely am obsessed with the style now!

5// L*Space : L * Space is the perfect line to bring a little chic to the beach. Think surfer chic meets super fashionista. The fit is perfection and I have been dying over all the fun prints and new styles. I’ve also had my eye on the fringe styles ever since my bff, Elizabeth bought a white fringe bikini last year! I mean, who wouldn’t want to be that girl in the fringe bikini at the pool!? And you know what’s really cool? You can mix and match your favorite prints or colors on L * Space’s site!! I have definitely killed some time coming up with my perfect combo..in fact, I made the one pictured on the site!

Californ I Ayyyyy Recap

Since my parents were spending a week in Newport Beach, Matt and I decided to head out west for the weekend! Since moving back to Dallas, I don’t get out to California as much as I’d like. While I loved living in San Diego, the more time I spent out in Newport and Laguna Beach, the more I questioned my decision to only live in San Diego. I am currently pleading with Matt to buy a home out there. That shouldn’t be too hard. Plus I heard buying real estate in California is very lucrative right now. ha!

Palms, Stripes & a Skort

Never did I ever thought I would be obsessed with a skort, but thanks to Zara, I am. I met blogger friend, Albertina, to take these pictures and when she saw me in my outfit, she said, “You really love that skort”. It took me awhile to realize that the last two times I had seen her, I was wearing it as well. Embarrassing. I like what I like and when I like something, I tend to wear it a ton.

And my skort isn’t the only thing I’m loving to wear recently. I bought this Samudra palm print pouch last summer for my trip to Hawaii and took it with me everywhere. I’m so happy it’s getting close to summer so I can sport it again. And it’s perfect for California which is where I’m headed as we speak! It’s great to pack for the pool or the beach, but is cute enough to take out as well. Nicole’s Bridesmaid’s Luncheon and Rehearsal Dinner

As I’ve mentioned before, my oldest friend in the world, Nicole, got married over the weekend and I was the self appointed photographer for some of the events. There was no way I could have crammed all of the amazingness into one post so this is part one. That’s right, this beyotch has two parts. So let’s start with the Bridesmaid’s Luncheon that her friends and family threw for her at Brook Hollow.

After the luncheon and our pedi’s and mani’s, we rehearsed away and then headed downtown for dinner at the Joule. Y’all, that place is really cool! We had drinks on the rooftop deck and despite being unusually cold, there couldn’t have been a more perfect venue. I would recommend it for your next rehearsal dinner. haha.. Aren’t rehearsal dinners so much fun?! I always love the slideshows and the speeches always have me in tears. I am a horrible public speaker so even considering getting up to give a speech gave me hives.

I’ve got to say that the wedding was seriously out of control and I am in shock that Nicole and her mom did it all on their own. Can’t wait to share next week!

Tuesday Shoesday: Kitty Anarchy

Take Charlotte Olympia’s classic kitty flats, add Tom Binns and what do you get?? Kitty Anarchy!!!! In honor of the Metropolitan’s Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibition, Brit shoe designer, Charlotte Olympia teamed up with punk/baroque jewelry designer, Tom Binns for a collection. The two of them collaborating was enough news to make my head explode, but then I saw the flats and seriously screamed out loud!! It made me want to go graffiti a wall..with kittens of course. The safety pin adorned kittens might be the coolest things I have ever seen and I HAVE to have them! If you do too, you can pick them up on Charlotte’s online boutique or Moda Operandi.

Best Dressed: Met Gala

Even though there were some painful moments from the Met Gala red carpet {the live stream interviews…did they really cut off the Mother of Punk.., having to see Miley and Kim K and Nicole Richie’s hair}, there were so many memorable moments. I mean Sarah Jessica Parker in Giles, Phillip Treacy and Christian Louboutin made my night. I was so happy to see someone really go all out for the gala. It seemed as though many people misinterpreted the theme or didn’t acknowledge it at all, which is why I really appreciated the ones that did. Theme aside, there were some gorgeous red carpet looks!

Some of fashion’s heavy hitters chose to rebel against the punk theme {which is actually punk} and wear florals and feminine gowns. Kate Bosworth and Gwyneth did however wear the official color of punk:pink.

Whether adorned with spikes,safety pins or harnesses, I loved seeing these women’s interpretation of punk. To me, “punk” is anti establishment and anti fashion so I loved that Dree Hemingway {in Stella McCartney} refrained from being flashy. On the other hand, the exhibition is how punk influenced fashion and who showed those influences better than Madonna?!? While I’m not usually a fan of Madonna’s outfits, I have to give it to her for going all out in her Givenchy getup.
